Candidate Expectations
Please read through the following statements and select agree to continue to the MyLINK form.
- Considerations in our selection process that could impact eligibility for access to classified information:
- Lack of Candor
Lack of candor, or dishonesty, which includes deliberately omitting, underreporting, or inconsistently reporting information at any time during the hiring process is contrary to what we value. Candor is something we carefully consider during our review process for clearance determination and is the top reason we withdraw an offer of employment.
- Excessive Alcohol Use
Our concern with alcohol use is with its abuse, to include recent and recurring excessive use or alcohol-related incidents.
- Criminal and Dishonest Conduct
Our concern is with the nature of the criminal or dishonest conduct, which may or may not have resulted in a conviction.
Once a candidate has entered our hiring process, there must be no continued involvement in illegal activities.
- Lack of Responsiveness
Candidates are expected to respond promptly to inquiries and keep their appointments to the best of their abilities. Please commence (or continue) with the application process when the timing is right, be it from the standpoint of past conduct that requires further time to mitigate, or on account of personal or professional responsibilities that could interfere with the hiring process.
- Loyalty
Candidates must be of unquestionable allegiance to the United States.
- Personal Integrity
Working for our organization requires trust and high standards of integrity and conduct, especially in the face of adversity.
- Social Media
For your safety and security, we ask that you not follow us on social media or post any content pertaining to your processing. This includes ‘friending’ or ‘following’ the organization, and/or ‘liking’ or sharing content or commentary on our social media applications and/or feeds.
Friends, family, individuals, or organizations may be interested to learn that you are considering employment with our organization. Please use discretion in sharing your interest as widespread public knowledge may limit your opportunities (current and future) within the organization.
Throughout your processing with us, you may travel abroad; however, for your safety and the protection of our security process, please do not contact us when you are outside of the United States or its territories (mail, telephone, email, or internet), visit any of the organization’s webpages, or respond to any organization recruiters/security personnel.
- Use of Generative AI (Gen AI)
We recognize the current widespread use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and acknowledge the many benefits of this technology. However, it is important that an individual's knowledge, skills, and abilities are accurately assessed when being considered for employment. The use of AI should not be used in submitting writing or portfolio samples, when completing on-line assessments, and in support of screenings and/or interviews. Integrity is one of our core values and all applicants must demonstrate alignment to this value while seeking potential employment. Unauthorized use of AI during the application process may impact consideration for employment.
If AI is used in the development of a resume, you should note the use of AI and explain how it was leveraged (i.e. for review of grammar).
The information you provide will be subject to Artificial Intelligence and machine learning processes pursuant to officially sanctioned and approved uses of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning by the Federal Government.
- Clearance Process
All positions within our organization require a Top-Secret clearance. The clearance process helps us to identify candidates who are loyal to the United States, trustworthy, honest, reliable, and of good character and conduct to safeguard and protect national security interests.
Should you receive and accept a conditional offer of employment, you will undergo extensive processing to include a background investigation, polygraph examination, and medical evaluation to determine if you meet employment suitability requirements, clearance eligibility, and medical standards to be a custodian of classified information.
The background investigation may include interviews with former and current employers, neighbors, colleagues, as well as criminal history and credit checks.
The polygraph is a tool we utilize to verify information you have provided and to assess your credibility.
The medical examination is similar to an annual physical exam along with a mental health assessment.
Our hiring timeline is about six months or more from application submission, depending on your individual circumstances. Responsiveness and candor are critical to the timely completion of this process.
To learn more about the criteria used to evaluate individuals who require national security eligibility, please review the National Security Adjudicative Guidelines defined in Security Executive Agent Directive (SEAD) 4.
- Ongoing Requirements of Employees
Adhering to high standards of personal conduct continues throughout employment. Our employees undergo regular and periodic reinvestigations to include polygraph testing and enrollment in Continuous Evaluation, which applies to all Executive Branch personnel who require eligibility for access to classified information. In addition, employees are required to obtain approval for various activities to protect their safety and the security of the organization. These include personal foreign travel, foreign national contacts with whom you maintain close contact, outside employment, and pre-publication review of books, speeches, resumes and blogs.
