Please note that this application's save files are all in the .json file-type, so please ensure that you are uploading is the correct file-type. If you are confident that the file you are using is a save file produced by this application and are still experiencing problems loading the file, it may be out of date. In this case, you will need to restart your submission.

To store a copy of your resume data, it is recommended that you save a copy of the resume data to your computer using the "Save/Import/Clear" feature, accessible from the application. When you are ready to continue your resume, use the same menu to load your saved file. Attachments will not be saved between sessions.

After clicking "Submit", you will be provided with a unique Tracking Number. It is highly recommended that you save this number in a text file on your computer, or write it down somewhere you will not lose it. Enter your tracking number in the Check Submission Status feature to get updated submission information.

This may have several causes; we've listed some possible sources of the issue below:

* If you copy/pasted answers from a resume or other external file such as a cover letter, you may want to re-type the answers by hand; sometimes pasting text from text editors can introduce formatting errors that can cause failures.

* Additionally, you may have attempted to submit an encrypted file; our system is not accepting encrypted files at this time. You should also be sure that you have not simply edited the file extension in the file name (ex. renaming name.gif to be name.jpg; this does not actually change the file type). You will need to use a text or photo editor to save the file in the proper format.

* Another possible problem are special characters in your text that may not be standard. This can cause a problem with encoding your text for secure transfer.

* It is also possible that your connection timed out during submission, causing a failure.

Please do not send a paper copy (via fax or U.S. Mail) to the CIA. It is not necessary or advantageous after you have submitted your resume online. The online submission process was specifically designed to provide the candidate with quick entry into our active candidate database.

You can save a copy of the submission data to your computer using the "Save/Import/Clear" feature, accessible from the application navbar at the top of the page (it is listed as an option under the 'Save/Import/Clear' heading). The default location of the saved file depends on your web browser and operating system settings. In most cases the default location will be your Users Downloads folder.

Default download location for Chrome & Firefox on Windows: \Users\\Downloads

Default download location for Chrome & Firefox on Mac: /Users//Downloads

Default download location for Chrome & Firefox on Linux: /home//Downloads
